Another man has been arrested for the murder of investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, who was killed in a car bomb in October 2017. The man, who is one of Malta's most famous businessmen, was arrested aboard his luxury yacht at 05.30 on Wednesday morning, the Times of newspaper reveals Malta.

He should then have been on his way to leave the country.

The company manager, who owns one of the companies reviewed by Daphne Caruana Galizia, has links with the government. Malta's Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has been hard pressed after the arrest - parts of civil society and the opposition are now demanding his departure.

"The Prime Minister's situation is untenable, he must step down now and let justice have its way," tweeted Simon Busuttil, former opposition leader.

Several arrested

According to The Guardian, leaked emails show that Daphne Caruana Galizia had access to a company owned by Joseph Muscat's chief of staff as well as a minister to receive $ 2 million in payments from company leader's shell company 17 Black. However, the Minister has rejected all charges.

Already, several people have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the murder. At the same time, both the government and the police have received harsh criticism from, among others, the Council of Europe, which considers that the preliminary investigation has serious shortcomings.
