Four Algerian journalists were suspended on Tuesday (November 19th) for criticizing the front page of pro-power daily Le Temps d'Algerie on social networks.

It is a cover of the Algerian Time that triggered everything. In its edition of Monday, the daily headline: " Unanimity on the need to vote en masse ". An assertion that did not please the journalist Issa Moussi home who then cracked a comment on his Facebook account.

He called this a " shameful " and denounced a " dictated orientation " which, according to him, "in no way reflects the reality on the ground ". Statements that were not of the taste of the management who immediately suspended it. Same fate for three other colleagues - including the editor - who wanted to defend himself.

In the grip of this affair, the French-language daily did not appear this Wednesday. According to a note from the management, the four journalists are suspended " up to a disciplinary council " for " seriously damaging the image of the newspaper ".

In solidarity, all the journalists of the other media of the group gathered, this Wednesday, in front of the premises of "Médias temps nouveaux" owned by the businessman Ali Haddad, deemed close to the regime of Abdelaziz Bouteflika and currently incarcerated for corruption.

In Algeria, journalists have protested several times since the beginning of Hirak to denounce censorship and the way public television covers the protests.
