The question of a new bandyhall has been long-standing and wet in Motala Municipality. The bandy people struggle to get usable ice at the same time as players and audiences hope for a hall to be built. The municipality sees a bigger picture and thinks about what all sports in Motala can possibly need.
- We are just developing a needs analysis, says Deputy Municipal Commissioner Jimmy Szigeti.
He does not want to comment precisely on the issue of a bandy hall because the investigation is about so much more than just the bandy's needs. The sports hall is approaching the 50-year mark and in connection with it is today's swimming hall.
The needs analysis is prepared so that the municipality may be able to make a decision on a feasibility study. One idea is to create a new leisure center where many different sports can be accommodated. Possibly it could be located near the area where the water park Lalandia is planned.
In February 2020, the needs analysis will be reported to the municipal management.
