19 November 2019The majority summit on the justice reform with Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and the Guardasigilli Alfonso Bonafede started at Palazzo Chigi. The delegations of Pd, Leu and Italia are present. "Tonight there will be yet another confrontation that I hope will be decisive. The justice reform can no longer be postponed," said Justice Minister Alfonso Bonafede, on the sidelines of a press conference in Via Arenula. "The majority is committed, now it is time to leave: I have had contributions from other political forces - added the Guardasigilli - there is a good convergence on the criminal, on the civil and on the CSM".

In the intentions of the Guardasigilli, Alfonso Bonafede, there would be the will to close this night, but on the reform, in particular on the knot of the prescription, the distances between the two main majority parties of the government are enormous. Bonafede would like the freezing of the statute of limitations after the first instance trial since January 2020, as well as faster processes. But the law, the workhorse of the M5S, cancels the previous legislation written by the then Minister Andrea Orlando, with the limitation period suspended for 36 months between Appello and Cassazione. Reason that pushes the dem to ask for a postponement that allows to work better on the reform and to intervene also on the text of the prescription, foreseeing a variable duration for degree of judgment and contemporarily shortening the times.
