In the municipality of Storuman, the climate has been adjusted throughout Tärnaby so that all commercial properties and apartments must be run with heating and in central Storuman it is district heating controlled. The municipal railway terminal will also be expanded and energy savings will be made there by moving transport from trucks to rail. Since then, more charging poles have been set up for electric cars.
- We rent an electric car when the opportunity arises and it works well. Technology has progressed and it feels like a mature choice nowadays, says Jimmy Lindberg, Chief of Staff at Storuman's Municipality.
"Important to climate change for us as a visiting municipality"Jimmy says that the employees at the municipality try to have travel-free meetings as often as possible and that they are very good on that front. Instead, they choose to join the link to save time and the environment.
Why is it important to change the climate for you?
- For us as a visitor municipality, it is important that people can get here, many come via their own car. But we want them to keep coming here and there we need to be able to offer more types of transport and fuel types, says Jimmy Lindberg.
But in the municipality, in addition to large projects such as the work on a fossil-free or climate-neutral railway terminal, minor changes are also taking place with the climate direction.
