Jeffrey Epstein tried to take his life by the end of July. After that, the six-billion-dollar billionaire would be checked more closely. After a week, the checks diminished - but they would still be done every half hour. Nevertheless, Epstein managed to take his own life.

Ignored the controls

Jeffrey Epstein had over the years been friends with both British royals and US presidents such as Bill Clinton and Donald Trump. He was held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York - where several high-profile prisoners have been held previously. The fact that he succeeded in taking his life there has subsequently led to several conspiracy theories about how it may have gone.

Now, the two arrests are being charged with controlling Jeffrey Epstein that day. According to the AP, the guards are suspected of having failed to control Epstein for several hours before he died. In addition, they must have incorrectly entered into the internal protocols that the checks had been made.

Following the scandal, it has been revealed that the detention had major problems with staff shortages. This should have led to guards being forced to work a lot of overtime at the same time as staff were forced to jump in to perform tasks they were not employed to do.
