“Sweet places” for the opposition: how Vladimir Zelensky quarreled with Yulia Tymoshenko

Political friction between the current president of the country, Vladimir Zelensky, and the leader of the Fatherland Party, Yulia Tymoshenko, is gaining momentum in Ukraine. The former Prime Minister of Ukraine and its faction officially joined the ranks of the opposition on November 13 after the adoption by the Ukrainian parliament in the first reading of the bill on lifting the moratorium on the sale of agricultural land. She then applied to the Constitutional Court of the country in connection with this legislative initiative.

However, Zelensky believes that the reasons for the transfer of Tymoshenko to the camp of opponents of the current government may in fact have other motives. According to the head of state, there is a "very ancient Ukrainian tradition", according to which the leader of the "Fatherland" once in five years goes into opposition to the current president, imitating concern for Ukrainian citizens.

“Yulia Vladimirovna told me that she was offering us new people for various positions. People who "will bring investment." I wish we all were honest to the end. Yes, Julia Vladimirovna really offered. She brought a list of her people to be assigned to “sweet” places. In return, she promised to vote for all laws during the year along with the “Servant of the People” in the Verkhovna Rada. Of course, we refused. After all, the era of agreements has ended forever, ”Zelensky wrote on Facebook.

According to an RT source in the Servant of the People party, Tymoshenko, in exchange for supporting all the bills, suggested that people close to her be offered to lead the State Agency for Management of the Exclusion Zone (oversees the exclusion zone near the Chernobyl nuclear power plant) and the State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine. According to the interlocutor of RT, Zelensky was very upset when he found out about such a proposal on her part.

However, the Ukrainian leader made a kind of compliment to the 58-year-old ex-head of government.

“But look how beautiful the“ opposition ”has now. Such a figure! Do you know why? Because now they just don’t give her “sweets,” Zelensky concluded.

The response of the head of the Batkivshchyna party in social networks was not long in coming. Tymoshenko indicated that she would like to discuss with the president of Ukraine “the fate of the country”, but he chose a “different tone”. At the same time, she also recalled the "long-standing Ukrainian traditions."

“Once every five years, it seems to some Ukrainian presidents that they took a jackpot! And then everything is according to the scenario ... Well, you are in the know ... In a word, we are waiting for you at corporate parties ... You can with your piano, ”Tymoshenko wrote.

Probably, the politician hinted at the 2016 “Game Without Pants” issue from the Evening Quarter show, in which Vladimir Zelensky “played” the piano with the help of his “genitals”.

In September, American presenter John Oliver drew attention to this performance in his satirical show Last Week Tonight.

At the same time, in her next post, the politician expressed gratitude to everyone who supported her in a skirmish with the president.

Note that in the summer, relations between politicians were completely different. Tymoshenko repeatedly emphasized her readiness to provide full support to the elected president and his party “Servant of the People” so that Ukraine “does not lose another five years.”

“No matter how the parliamentary elections end, we will not stand in the opposition or on the sidelines, we will help the new president in everything,” she pointed out in June.

Recall that according to the results of the ninth convocation of the Verkhovna Rada, the “Servant of the People” won 252 of 424 seats in parliament, avoiding the need to form a coalition with other political forces. The minimum required to pass laws is 226 votes.

“He is doing everything to set up a political elite against himself”

Vladimir Zelensky decided to violate all the rules of Ukrainian politics, the source of RT in the Voice party believes.

“Consultations are ongoing, but no one ever reports them publicly. The new president is doing everything to set up a political elite against himself. To understand what this leads to, you can look at Petro Poroshenko. If Zelensky thinks that his rating in a year will be as high as now, he is mistaken, ”he emphasized.

At the same time, the party of the ex-head of state “European Solidarity” indicated that conflicts in the Ukrainian parliament started earlier than experts predicted. A representative of this faction in an interview with RT said that Zelensky’s allegedly worsening relationship with businessman Igor Kolomoisky, whom the majority in the “Servant of the People” are guided by.

“I fear that soon the president will not have a majority in parliament. Zelensky in strained relations with Petro Poroshenko, and now with Yulia Tymoshenko. The only political force with which he has a chance to come to an agreement is the Voice Party. If this does not happen, the work of the Verkhovna Rada may be blocked, ”the MP said in an interview with RT.

The party "Fatherland" called the words of Zelensky in relation to Tymoshenko the humiliation of a high-level politician.
