Hatta border crossing witnessed yesterday the celebration of the 49th National Day of the Sultanate of Oman, in the presence of the Commander of Dubai Police, Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, Major General Mohammed Al Marri, and Director General of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing in Dubai, Hilal Al Marri, Sheikh of Al Aqar Omani border with Hatta, Sheikh Ammar bin Abdullah Al Mazrouei, and the Commander of the Special Task Force Unit in Sohar, Colonel Khalaf bin Mohammed Al Maamari.

Maj. Gen. Mohammed Al Marri said in a statement to reporters that this celebration represents an expression of the UAE's love for Oman, and that their people are one people, and therefore the celebration was a celebration of one people.

He said: «We in the UAE and Oman do not differentiate distances, because hearts are close together,» noting that there is no difference between the sons of the two countries.

For his part, the commander of the special task police in Sohar, that this celebration held by the UAE honor each Omani, and expresses the rapprochement between the two brotherly peoples, in light of the close relations sponsored by the leaderships of the two countries.

The ceremony began with the reception of delegations from Oman, then played the Omani and Emirati national anthem, a military parade of candidates for the Dubai Police, and then recited poems reflecting the distinguished relations between the two countries, and commends the renaissance witnessed by the Sultanate of Oman since Sultan Qaboos bin Said came to power. Roses and gifts were distributed to the Omani arrivals, with congratulations and blessings exchanged on this occasion.

The celebration was attended by children carrying the flags of the UAE and Oman. The UAE is one of Oman's most important trading partners, with UAE investments in the Sultanate estimated at $ 2.6 billion, while Omani investments in the UAE are estimated at $ 1.2 billion.

The two countries affirm their keenness to develop joint relations at all levels, within the framework of the Joint Higher Committee for Cooperation between the two countries, which was announced in May 1991, and discussed since its inception cooperation in various areas, including the areas of automated linkage in land ports, and the road transport of passengers and goods.
