Criminals often have high debts to Kronofogden. These may include tax liabilities, fines and damages to crime victims.

But even so, the same criminal can sometimes sign up with a life full of luxury goods. They drive around in expensive cars and wear gold jewelry. It is now hoped that the Kronofogden can change that.

"Standing on the Öresund Bridge"

With a supplement of SEK 65 million, the authority should now actively engage workers in striking against criminals.

- We are down at the Öresund Bridge on occasions that we have obtained through intelligence work. We stand there when these people pass by, get help to stop them and can then measure out, says Johannes Paulson, Head of Operations at the Kronofogdemyndighet.

He shows off two gold rings that have recently been ejected from a criminal. Both are worth over SEK 100,000.

- And right after we sell them, the money goes to crime victims. It feels good! he says.
