The life reinvented (and without bangs) of Anna Gabriel

Under the image of a lion of Congress upside down and crossed by a line, the word Ingovernables is read. It is the motto that has led Mireia Vehí (34) and Albert Botran (35) to the Congress of Deputies, by the hand of the CUP. The 200 anti-club supporters who have gathered in front of the training headquarters in Barcelona are elated. "Dale Miri!" A girl shouts when Mireia takes the stand. She smiles and announces: "We are going to Madrid to make an amendment to the capitalist regime."

In front of the most visible faces of the CUP, such as Anna Gabriel - exiled in Geneva for almost two years - or David Fernàndez, Mireia Vehí is less known outside of Catalonia. So far, because both she and Botran have promised to hack the Hemicycle and surely their interventions will be played. "We are going to take the conflict to Congress. And the conflict is called self-determination, amnesty and the rights of the popular classes," he reiterated in all the interviews that have been made throughout the campaign. "

With a degree in Sociology from the University of Granada, Vehí has been active in anti-capitalist training since 2015. Shortly after, she joined the Parliament. He also works as an intercultural technique in the City Council of Barcelona . Disciple of Anna Gabriel, cultivated the same look as she, with anti-system shirts and bangs abertzale . But, like her too, she has softened her image with a more conventional hairstyle, pasta glasses and knitted sweaters, which she has worn in her latest appearances on TV3.

The deputy grew up in Vilafant, a small town of 5,400 inhabitants in Alto Ampurdán. In his family he was always interested in politics , although not in his independence or radical side. His mother, Consol Cantenys (57), has been the socialist mayor of the town for ten years and one of the people who has most influenced his life. "Since childhood Mireia showed concerns, she was a girl with character, very curious and defender of justice. She was a good girl, studious," Consol recalls in a telephone conversation with LOC. Mireia appealed to her when they proposed to head the CUP list to Congress . I wanted to know what I thought. " I encouraged him to accept it. I think it's a unique experience, an opportunity that few people have," he says.

Have you given any advice? "I have told him that I hope he knows how far he can go, take it easy and be careful ." Consol speaks proudly of his daughter. He acknowledges that Congress "gives a little respect" but says Mireia is "very excited" about the challenge.

Although they disagree on many of his ideas, the mayor says that the militancy of her daughter in an anti-system formation has not taken her away from her. "On the contrary, politics has brought us closer . We argue a lot, well, we debate rather. She has different points of view, but the grace is in discussing, right? We talk from the political discrepancy and share interests," he says.

The good relationship between the two was evident when Mireia went to the presentation of her mother as a candidate for re-election to the Mayor's Office of Vilafant in the last municipal elections, in April. "Mireia Vehí excited [the public] speaking as a daughter of her mother's influence in her own political life," said the review of the act on the official Facebook profile of the municipality's socialists. In some sectors of the CUP, however, the gesture did not like anything and they criticized it on social networks.

Mireia and her mother are the only family policies. His brothers, Laia and Pau, are musicians. The first is a singer-songwriter - participated in the program 'The number one' of Antena 3 in 2012 with versions of Adele or Antonio Vega - and the little one studies a master of music production in London. The three have promised to go to Madrid to support Mireia: "We have AVE station in the town, so we have no excuses."
