Two canvases of the French collective Obvious, made with the use of artificial intelligence, were sold Friday at Sotheby's at prices much lower than one of their previous tables, party for $ 432,500 last year.

"The Baronne de Belamy", from the same series as "Portrait of Edmond de Belamy", which had reached last year more than sixty times the low estimate at Christie's, was sold to the only buyer who made a bid, for $ 20,000, is the bottom of the estimate range (the top was at 30,000).

With commissions and fees, the price reaches $ 25,000.

As for "Katsuwaka of the Dawn Lagoon", a canvas inspired by traditional Japanese prints, it has reached the top of the range, set at $ 12,000, to reach $ 16,250, including fees and commissions.

The sale of the "Portrait of Edmond de Belamy" on October 25, 2018, had astounded the art market, and beyond, drawing attention to a market in full development, that of works made with the help of artificial intelligence.

The sale of the two new works was expected as a new indicator of buyers' appetite for this category.
