14 November 2019Matteo Berrettini leaves the London ATP Finals with a victory: the Roman tennis player, in the third group B match, beat Austrian Dominic Thiem 7-6 6-3. Berrettini is the first Italian tennis player to have won a singular match in the ATP Finals.

"I am very proud of my team, my family and my friends. It's an incredible season, I hope to come back next year. Without these guys it wouldn't have been possible. I'm happy to close with a victory." So Matteo Berrettini commented hotly, in London, on his first victory in the tennis ATP Finals in London. "With Thiem - he added - I always played very tight matches. I was good at keeping mentally in the first set, I am very happy of my performance despite not being 100% physically ". The right to fire? "I have to thank my mother ...", he joked. "I experienced some difficult moments this season, I was unbearable on bad days but my team was incredible. Now I have to rest in view of the next big event and then there will be the holidays", the Roman tennis player concluded.
