Michel Fourniret was sentenced in 2008 by the Assize Court of the Ardennes to the irreducible life for the murder of seven young women or girls between 1987 and 2001, preceded by rape or attempted rape, and three assaults. Monique Olivier was sentenced to life imprisonment with a 28-year sentence, for complicity in four of the murders and rape in a meeting of a girl.

In 2018 Michel Fourniret was again sentenced to life, by the Yvelines Assize Court, for the assassination in 1988 of Farida Hammiche, whose body was never found. His ex-wife Monique Olivier was sentenced to 20 years' imprisonment. Last September Michel Fourniret and Monique Olivier, who divorced in 2010, participated in the Yonne to a re-enactment in the investigation of two murders recently recognized by the serial killer: those of Joanna Parrish and Marie-Angèle Domece committed between 1988 and 1990.
