The statistics show that mental ill-health is behind longer sick leave in half of the country's municipalities, and is retrieved for ongoing illness in December 2018.
Hjo had the highest proportion of long-term sick leave for mental illness with 62.3 percent. Arvika is close behind with 61.6 percent.
Hagfors municipality is also high in the statistics and in ninth place in the country. There, 58.6 percent are long-term sick leave for mental illness.
The working environment a cause"It is not the heavy psychiatric diagnoses that are increasing, but it is primarily stress, anxiety and depression," says Lisa Björk, researcher in the working environment and mental health at the Institute of Stress Medicine in the Västra Götaland region to the News Agency Sirén.

The lowest proportion of mentally ill people with long-term sick leave is found in Överkalix. There the share is 18 percent.
The figures come from Försäkringskassan and are taken from the statistics database Kolada.
