Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko announced Moscow’s intention to continue efforts to normalize relations with the European Union and NATO in the name of security in Eurasia.

“We are convinced that it is in our common interests to prevent the further slide of the world towards chaos, confrontation, and to create in Eurasia and the Euro-Atlantic a renewed atmosphere of peace and indivisible security that meets the spirit of the 21st century,” Grushko quotes TASS.

He noted the disposition of Russia to “honest, serious, equal dialogue”, to “normalize and heal our relations with key groups, primarily NATO and the EU.”

Grushko emphasized that the country's position is based on the opinion that there is no reasonable alternative to collective work on the basis of international law with the decisive role of the UN, as well as the productivity of unilateral approaches.

Earlier, French leader Emmanuel Macron called for abandoning the view of Russia as the “primary enemy” of NATO and rethinking strategic relations with Moscow for the common interests and security of Europe.
