The corresponding statement was published by the EU Delegation to Ukraine.

“The EU supports the government’s plans to open the land market in Ukraine, which can reveal the huge potential of the Ukrainian economy. The reform should be based on the rule of law and the principles of sustainability, transparency and justice, ”the statement said.

The association noted that the European Union is ready to offer its experience and support together with other international partners in this matter.

“Small farms should be at the center of this reform, in particular those that are not registered as legal entities - that is, individuals who process agricultural land,” the EU added.

Earlier, the press secretary of President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, Yulia Mendel, commenting on the bill to open a land market in Ukraine, wrote in her column that foreigners are better at managing Ukrainian land than Ukrainians themselves.

In November, the World Bank expressed its support for land reform in Ukraine, within the framework of which the country will open an agricultural land market.

In October, the sociological group "Rating" published a poll that showed that 73% of Ukrainians are against lifting a moratorium on land sales.
