The increasingly serious crime in Sweden with shooting deaths, explosions and gang crime has become the dominant issue in the Swedish debate.

The measures taken by the government have so far not proved sufficient.

In this situation, the Swedish Democrats have chosen to raise the issue of a so-called disbelief statement against Justice Minister Morgan Johansson (S). He has failed to meet and fight the escalating violence and should therefore be dismissed by Parliament, says SD.

No support

Both the Moderates and the Christian Democrats have stated that they intend to support the Declaration of Unbelief. Interesting considering that this is the first time M and KD have joined a statement of confidence brought by SD.

For parliamentary decisions, however, it does not matter. Since the Center Party, the Liberals and the Left Party have declared that they intend to support the Minister of Justice, there is no support in the Riksdag for a declaration of confidence.

Thus, Morgan Johansson sits safely in his ministry and the prime minister can breathe out. At least for the moment.

But: The now-defamed statement of confidence is not and has never been the major threat to Löfven and his government. Instead, it is the development of crime itself. Maintaining security and security in a society is a basic task of a government.

Main responsibility

The government governs the kingdom, it is called the constitution, the form of government. The government has the main responsibility for the police to solve their tasks and to submit proposals to the Parliament on legislative changes.

Security and security for citizens is a fundamental foundation of every developed society. Citizens feel that this cannot be guaranteed, other political issues tend to become less important. This is what we see in the Swedish political debate right now.

And so it will remain as long as the government cannot show a clear decline in violence and crime.

For the government, this is a fundamental issue. When more and more voters feel anxious in their everyday lives for the safety of their own and their relatives, when bombs are blown, when women and children are shot down in the open street, it is precisely the government that bears the main responsibility for breaking and reversing this development. So do the voters see it. And Stefan Löfven and his ministers know that.

His important task

The prime minister himself has therefore repeatedly stated that his and the government's most important task is to crack down on crime.

He also knows that if the government fails to do so, both confidence and voters will melt away like snow in the spring. Then Stefan Löfven, somewhat simply put, is smoked in the next election.
