It is noted that among the approved projects is the TWISTER initiative (“Timely Warning and Interception with Space Observation of the Theater of War”).

The document says that "the spectrum of threats in Europe is evolving towards more complex and developing air threats, especially in the missile field."

As specified, this "project aims to strengthen the ability of Europeans to better detect, track and counter these threats through a combination of advanced capabilities for early warning of space-based and endoatmospheric interceptors."

The explanation also notes that the corresponding project “contributes to the development of Europe’s independent ability to contribute to NATO’s missile defense.”

Earlier, French leader Emmanuel Macron said that NATO is in a state of "brain death." He noted that Europe needs to start thinking of itself as an independent geopolitical force, otherwise it will not control its own destiny.

In turn, the elected head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, called on the European Union to learn the “language of power”.
