In a press release, the Migration Board states that they have now taken a position on how to interpret a judgment from the district court this summer. This means, among other things, that those who have been granted a residence permit with the support of the Higher Education Act are no longer entitled to stay in the Migration Board's premises - from 11 November.

However, the Migration Board will not make any decision before 31 January 2020 on whether persons should be evicted from a residence.

"The fact that we are awaiting something is because we want to give those who study the opportunity to complete the autumn term before they have to move, and time to look for new housing," says Veronika Lindstrand Kant, Head of National Coordination at the Migration Board.

Should arrange accommodation on their own

Those who print will then arrange accommodation on their own. If this is not possible, it will be the responsibility of each municipality to test an individual's need for housing in accordance with the Social Services Act.

Halmstad is the municipality where most people are affected - currently 75 people. Something Halmstad Municipality and the Chairman of the Social Committee in Halmstad, Ella Kardemark (KD), previously expressed their concern about.

"The risk is that we are getting homeless youth in Halmstad for the first time and I don't want that," she told SVT News Halland in mid-October.

SVT News is seeking Ella Kardemark (KD) for a comment following the Migration Board's decision.
