China's big shopping day, the single day, on November 11, broke the record on e-commerce giant Alibaba's platforms with a combined sales of 268 billion yuan, equivalent to about SEK 370 billion, the company writes in a press release.

Assessors said a decline due to the somewhat cooler Chinese economy, but that was not the case. The figure instead represents an increase of 26 percent compared to 2018.

Singles Day - on Chinese guanggun jie and internationally known as singles day - is China's big readag and can be compared to its American counterpart black friday.

It falls on November 11 - 11/11 - because the rows of rows are reminiscent of lonely people. But nowadays it is not just singles who go shopping during the event.

Alibaba is largely behind the single day being China's big shopping day, and accounts for the lion's share of revenue.
