Jordan's sovereignty over its territory is above all else, King Abdullah said yesterday.

The Jordanian monarch, King Abdullah II, arrived yesterday in the region of Baqoura, a day after the end of a 25-year special regime with Israel.

After the expiry of its annexes, Jordan recovered from Israel the lands of Baqoura and inundation from the 1994 peace agreement.

In October 2018, the Jordanian monarch canceled the two annexes granting Israel the right to act in the border areas of Baqoura and Ghamr for 25 years.

Under the peace agreement, Jordan would give Israel the right to dispose of the lands of the two areas for 25 years.

This is what Amman did after King Abdullah decided last year to restore the lands of Baqoura, east of the junction of the Jordan and Yarmouk rivers in Irbid governorate in the north, and inundate the Wadi Araba area in Aqaba governorate south of the Israeli trusteeship.

He warned Jordan against any attempts by Israel to violate the treaty signed on Baqoura and immersion, considering that if it undermines the peace process in the region.
