A former Egyptian detainee said that he was tortured for five consecutive months, and that the prison administration was telling him that President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi was "personally recommended to you."

Ahmed Mohy was known to the Egyptians when police arrested him from inside Tahrir Square, following the publication of a video demonstrating solo against Sisi demanding his departure, after a horrific train accident in Cairo that killed 28 people and wounded 50 others.

Yesterday he returned with a new video showing his torture and solitary confinement, noting that the prison authorities forced him to stay awake for five consecutive days with his hands tied behind his back.

The former detainee drew attention to the UAE's role in his case after he was released from prison, where he published a video showing his human rights violations inside Egypt, after which two journalists from Norway and Switzerland contacted him to publish his case and came to the UAE for this purpose.

He explained that the UAE asked the journalists to leave their territories, and threatened them accused of working for Qatar, Turkey and terrorism, pointing out that he came out of the UAE 48 hours after the publication of that video.

Two days ago, a statement by the Special Rapporteur on Arbitrary Executions and the UN Panel on Arbitrary Detention said that the prison system in Egypt may have led directly to the death of President Mohamed Morsi, and that thousands of detainees may suffer serious violations and risk death.

This comes in conjunction with the comprehensive periodic review of the file of the Egyptian regime at the United Nations in Geneva today and tomorrow, as well as in conjunction with the "Egyptian prisoner", which falls next Wednesday.
