Winter sports enthusiasts can visit a new destination in Sweden's mountainous Dalarna region, where the Salen Ski Resort opens its own airport to welcome the first visitors on December 22, 2019.
.
In addition to connecting passengers from all over the world to the Saline, Idre and Klaben ski areas, as well as the Norwegian Triessel region across the border, the strangest thing at Triessel Airport is how travelers roam once they are there.

Instead of leaving the airport on a simple bus, visitors can set off directly in the winter landscape by taking a dog sled to their hotel.

The canine sled journey takes 45 to 60 minutes, costs about $ 510, and serves four people.

Flights to the new airport, also called Scandinavian Mountain Airport, can be booked from airports in Copenhagen and Stockholm.

Salen and surrounding areas make up Sweden's largest downhill skiing and snowboarding area, with 254 slopes and 157 elevators to move skiers to the highest slope points and 100,000 hotel beds.
