SVT Nyheter has previously told about the dental company Bay Dental in Sundbyberg, which is on the Social Insurance Agency's sanction list for suspecting that they have cheated with dental care. Last year, the Social Insurance Agency reported the dentist to the Inspection for Health and Care, IVO.
- After we started an individual case at this dentist, complaints began to come from patients, says Caroline Brundell, supervisory doctor at the Inspection for Health and Care, IVO.
One of them was Anna Andersson, who put in dental facades at Bay Dental which started falling out shortly after.
- I was so hurt. My new dentist said that I was close to getting dental floss, because my teeth were like cemented together.
"My health is at stake"Anna had to pay a new treatment to insert new dental facades correctly. But IVO believes that it is not possible to prove that her injury is medical, but that Anna primarily seeks financial compensation for a failed beauty treatment.
- Whether it's about beauty or medical reasons, it's still serious, after all, my health is at stake. The damage she has created is, of course, serious, ”says Anna Andersson.
But it is not possible to prove that the injuries reported by the patients really are due to this dentist, as the dentist has disappeared and there are no radiographs.
- The burden of proof lies on us, when we are going to investigate a care that has taken place, we only have the medical record available, says Caroline Brundell.
The dentist's insurance company Gjensidige also refuses to pay any compensation to Anna Andersson. They write that it is not possible to prove that there is any "objective, demonstrable injury" of this particular treatment.
"Have tried to reach her"The fact that the records are missing or missing from the dentists who are reported to IVO is a big problem, this shows a review that the authority did in 2017. And in this case Caroline Brundell says that they have done everything they can before closing the case against the dentist.
- We have tried to reach her, through recommended letters and service from the police. We want contact with the individual to find out that person's attitude. Going to HSAN and withdrawing the ID is the right intervention.
But will it be worthwhile to leave the country and bring the records?
- No, but we can resume the case if we get an impetus that she is back in the country.
