Saint-Etienne has extended his beautiful rise in the standings, winning a crazy game in Nantes (3-2) which temporarily raises him on the podium of Ligue 1, before the shock in the evening between Marseille and Lyon (21:00).

. Saint-Etienne, it's hot

If Claude Puel drags the reputation of coach austere style, his players have proved the opposite to the Beaujoire, in a spectacular match that should mark a turning point in their season.

Led twice, the Greens managed to overthrow the Canaries thanks to Denis Bouanga, author of a double (34th, 67th). Decidedly, nothing is fixed with them: penultimate end of September, here they are third of L1, with the same number of points as the dolphin Angers (21 pts)!

If the Championship had started on the day of the arrival of Puel, Saint-Etienne would be first, in front of Paris SG.

Nantes could have hoped for better, given the crazy scenario, but nothing seems to turn in his favor lately: this fourth consecutive loss in L1 relegates him to 8th place (19 pts).

. Rennes reacts, Montpellier too

Rennes knows how to rebound. Eliminated from the Europa League on Thursday, the Bretons have recovered against Amiens (3-1), to chain a second consecutive success in the Championship.

Unable to win between early September and the end of October, Julien Stéphan's players signed a win against Picards, a team that will not let go of difficulties.

Led to the score, manhandled by good Picards, they ended up making the difference in the last half-hour thanks to Mbaye Niang (62) and Raphinha (79th sp).

With one game less, Stade Rennais (18 pts), three points off the podium, can legitimately dream of European places, if he manages to be more regular.

Montpellier, too, needs more consistency. Against Toulouse (3-0), Gaëtan Laborde (43), Damien Le Tallec (59) and Téji Savanier (75), for his first goal in his new colors, ended a series of three championship games without a win.

If they go back to 5th place (19 pts), the Herault must confirm and chain a second consecutive success, which they have never managed to do this season.
