"Galicia is a nation and has the right to self-determination." It is the letter of introduction of the Galego Nationalist Block (BNG), which returns to the Congress of Deputies four years later. He will do it with a seat, embodied in Ana Pontón .
The BNG had its greatest national visibility with the charismatic Xosé Manuel Beiras, but the atomization of the nationalist left impaired the formation's progress. This Sunday he attended the polls with the Social Democrats of Commitment to Galicia and got enough votes to return to Madrid.
He will do it alone, ignoring some voices that asked him to join state parties or En Marea , which he denied for the same reason: either alone or with anyone. Last October, he signed with 11 other parties a declaration of defense of the "right of self-determination" and the freedom of prisoners convicted of the process.
The BNG welcomes a Galician and leftist nationalist vote and claims its own economic concert with Galicia, a Galician Treasury and the transfer of more powers.
