by Tiziana Di Giovannandrea 09 November 2019A man of 79 years was wounded in Milan with a stab in the throat. His condition is serious, but it would not be life threatening.

The serious episode occurred around 6.00 pm in the underground parking lot of the San Raffaele hospital.

The attacker is called Antonio Cianci, a 60-year-old convict who killed three carabinieri in Melzo (Milan) in October 1979 and for this crime sentenced to life imprisonment. Held in Bollate prison, Cianci had obtained a one-day award, according to what has been learned.

Shortly after the serious incident, the police stopped Cianci with a knife dirty with blood still in his pocket. According to a first reconstruction, Cianci would have wounded the stranger during a robbery.

Three carabinieri killed in Melzo
In the night between 8 and 9 October 1979, Antonio Cianci, then twenty years old, killed three carabinieri who had stopped him at a roadblock on Provincial Road 14 between Liscate and Melzo aboard a stolen car.

While the soldiers controlled his documents, Cianci fired killing the marshal Michele Campagnuolo, the pointed Pietro Lia and the carabiniere Federico Tempini. When Cianci, a native of Cerignola (Foggia), was arrested, he did not confess and said, on the contrary, that some soldiers in a car had been shot at the Melzo station soldiers.

Cianci was arrested following a 'tip-off' which arrived at the switchboard of the Carabinieri Station in Pioltello. The guns he had used to kill the three carabinieri were found on him.

At the trial of the first degree he was sentenced to life imprisonment, conviction confirmed in appeal in 1983 (trial in which with a letter to the judges he confessed the completed massacre) and then also in Cassation. As far as we know a few years earlier, still a minor, he had killed a night watchman.
