The alarm was raised by a home care attendant who followed the family and who rang the bell several times at 10 am without receiving a reply. The firefighters, called by the neighbors, intervened and discovered the woman's body in the bed and the 60-year-old son under a table, with noticeable head injuries.
The man was hospitalized in serious condition at the Mandic hospital in Merate.
