“On the recommendation of the defense, Sokolov issued a confession. He admitted that he killed the girl, spoke about the circumstances of the crime. At the same time, the defense will work out a version of the self-incrimination, ”the lawyer quoted Interfax as saying.
The defender suggested that a measure of restraint to the historian would be elected on Monday, November 11, in the Kuibyshev court.
Earlier, the Investigative Committee of Russia opened a criminal case on the murder after a man was picked up from the Moika River in St. Petersburg, in whose backpack lay two female hands and a traumatic gun.
The media reported that an assassin of St. Petersburg State University Oleg Sokolov is suspected of murder. Presumably, his victim is a 24-year-old girl who studied with a historian and was a co-author of several of his scientific works.
Later, Sokolov was deprived of membership in the scientific council of the Institute of Sociological, Economic and Political Sciences (ISSEP) in Lyon.
