“Here, in fairness, we must admit that they compare favorably with various superficial Russophobic apocalyptic scenarios that can often be read and heard in different expert circles,” said Russian President’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

According to him, in this case we are talking about a "much more thoughtful approach" that appeals to Russia, including Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The Kremlin spokesman recalled that Putin “appreciates his contact with the French president” and the discussions on bilateral issues and regional issues that take place between them.

Peskov added that the scenario for the development of Russia is determined by the president, to whom the people delegated this right in the elections.

“There are all the elements that President Macron spoke about - this is Russia's openness to cooperation with both the countries of Europe, and the countries of Africa, the Far East, Southeast Asia, this is Russia's orientation specifically to good mutually beneficial relations,” he emphasized.

Earlier, Macron in an interview with The Economist magazine spoke about three possible scenarios for the development of Russia.

The first option, he called the formation of Russia as a superpower with reliance on its own forces, which will be very difficult to do. As a second scenario, Macron called the “Eurasian model”, explaining that China dominates the region, so this option is also unlikely.

The third option involves restoring balance in relations between Russia and Europe.
