Falls at home, poisoning, electrification ... There are 35,000 domestic accidents per day in France, more than 20,000 deaths per year, including 300 related to domestic fires. This is what emerges from a study commissioned by the association Attitude prevention on accidents of everyday life and the risks of domestic fire. "A fire is triggered every 2 minutes in France," reminds the microphone of Europe 1 Nathalie Irisson, Secretary General of Attitude prevention. "This can happen to everyone, so it's important to communicate about prevention actions to take."

9 out of 10 parents have ever had fire risk behavior

More than fire, it is the fumes that are the most dangerous and often the cause of death. "It is essential to have a smoke detector at home," says Nathalie Irisson. "It's compulsory and it does not cost much but still it is necessary to install it and to think to maintain it regularly: to change the batteries, to dust it ..."

According to the study, nearly 9 out of 10 parents have ever had a risky behavior related to fires, such as leaving electrical appliances plugged in, leaving lit candles before going to bed, or overloading their electrical outlets, which can lead to overheating. In its booklet on the dangers at home, Attitude Prevention places particular emphasis on cooking, the place of all dangers: burns, cuts, intoxications with household products ... "In his home, his family cocoon it feels like you're safe, "explains Nathalie Irisson. "That's why prevention is difficult to do on this type of accident."
