- In January, four socialist and liberal parties merged and reached an agreement to govern Sweden. Not because they had a common picture of our country's problems. Not because they had a common idea about the way forward. Without self-imposed fear and inherited power hunger, says Ebba Busch Thor in her inaugural speech.

The party leader calls the Christian Democrats "Sweden's real welfare party" and welfare was in focus throughout the speech. Ebba Busch Thor believes that the Social Democrats have deceived their voters.

- Swedish politics is changing. The Christian Democrats are a bourgeois party, but we also nod in agreement to parts of the popular home vision that once carried the Social Democrats, says the party leader.

- They've dropped their compass. They have lost their footing.

Hot debates are expected

Over the weekend, 290 motions and two proposals will be considered and will determine the political direction of the party going forward. Issues about migration, national begging and high-speed trains are the issues that are expected to be hottest debates around.
