The ship is as large as the regal ship Vasa and was found in a recess that was examined by divers during the week. It is believed to have been deliberately lowered to prevent intruders from entering Stockholm.

The marine archaeologists who participated in the scuba diving come from the new museum Vrak, which will open its doors in Stockholm next year. As the name implies, Vrak will showcase vessels found on the bottom of the Baltic Sea. The history and importance of the sea to the people in the area will also be told in the museum's exhibitions.

More details about the newly found ship will be presented during Friday.
