"I think there is a dark figure and we would like to encourage travelers to report if they see any driver using their mobile," says Charles Tholin, business developer at Länstrafiken.

It is Keolis who runs the buses in Jönköping. The bus company has worked to inform and train the drivers that the mobile phone should not be used when driving.

- It is individuals who make choices. We have about 500 drivers in Jönköping and the majority of them do a fantastic job and take responsibility, but then there are individuals who make the wrong choice, says Henrik Cederqvist, traffic area manager at Keolis.

The complaints that are submitted to Länstrafiken are in several cases about mobile use:

• The driver talked on the phone from I stepped on at City Gross until I got off at Juneporten.

• Hi, bus 3 on Sunday evening 20.10 went to Ryhov. The driver sat and talked on the phone my entire trip.

• Your driver spoke in handheld mobile and also searched for information on the same while traveling. Ceased only when the undersigned told him.

Continues despite the white

In the agreement that the Region, via the county government, has with the bus companies in the county, it is clear that mobile use is prohibited.

- Actually, you shouldn't have to resort to the white for things that are actually illegal, but when it comes to mobile use, we have deemed it necessary, says Carl-Johan Sjöberg, CEO of Länstrafiken.

But the whites are at SEK 500 and although it has been forbidden for drivers at Keolis to use mobile while traveling for several years, long before it was banned by law, it continues.

Is the penalty a palpable punishment for Keolis?

- A penalty is always a penalty, but we have other incentives that make us want to get this sorted out, says Henrik Cederqvist.

Why is it even allowed for drivers to bring phones on board the bus?

- It's not that easy. Then we would have to demand a body visit. And I would like to point out that the vast majority of drivers do well.
