Have you been sentenced in 2019? Then you have the opportunity to get moving help.

It was the offer that went to convicted criminals in four neighborhoods in Odense this weekend, reports the newspaper Fyens Stiftstidende.

Specifically, it involves free transfer assistance and 15,000 tax-free Danish crowns from the municipality for those who have recently been convicted of, for example, arms crimes or drug crimes.

Must move before year-end

Three housing companies and the Municipality of Odense are in charge of the offer, which may cost some money, but are expected to be involved even more expensive if the areas are classified as "hard ghettos".

The goal of the campaign is for 12-14 convicted persons to move before the end of the year.

Local politicians are now frustrated that tax money has to be used to lure criminals away from some residential areas.

- It is a choice between plague and cholera. If we do not manage to move 12-14 criminals from the area then it will end up on the hard ghetto list and then we will have to demolish houses and move into housing. I really want to avoid that, says Brian Dybro, local politician for the Socialist People's Party, to Danish Radio.

"Doesn't feel good"

Christoffer Lilleholt, group leader for Venstre in the City Council of Odense, is also listed.

- It's a very, very big dilemma. As a politician, it does not feel good to say that we have spent SEK 15,000 to help criminals move, but if it ensures that we do not have to demolish other people's houses, then it is still a good solution.

According to Fyens Stiftstidende, a handful of people have already heard from the municipality about the offer.
