One hundred and twenty-nine feminicides since the beginning of the year: this figure was hammered Wednesday on all benches by the senators who began the examination of a bill LR on violence in the family, already adopted at first reading in the Assembly.

The bill proposed by MP Aurélien Pradié provides for the establishment of anti-approximation bracelet, more effective protection orders, and also intends to breathe new life into the phone "serious danger".

It was adopted unanimously by the National Assembly, at first reading, with the support of the government.

Strong symbol, the Senate began its examination in the presence, in the hemicycle, of its president Gérard Larcher.

The Keeper of the Seals Nicole Belloubet stressed that the proposed law deserved to be adopted "as soon as possible", even if the Grenelle on domestic violence, which will culminate November 25 on a number of measures, would require " another piece of legislation ".

The minister reaffirmed her determination "to fight against these acts which, by bruising women every day, hurt society as a whole".

This bill "provides concrete answers" to women victims of domestic violence, said the rapporteur Marie Mercier (LR), while stressing that "violence is to fight from an early age, through education, by support to parenthood.

"Such a subject deserves a vast bill", for its part defended Marie-Pierre de la Gontrie (PS), for whom "129 women killed, it is the failure of a whole society". "This figure is insane, unbearable, it hides unfathomable pain."

The president of the delegation for women's rights, Annick Billon (centrist), also asked "on a schedule that prevents the consideration (...) lessons" that emerge from the Grenelle.

The senator ecologist Esther Benbassa has welcomed the proposal of law LR, which "tries to clear real substantive solutions (...) when the government seems to be content to make communication".

"For too long society has denied the reality of violence within the family," said the chairman of the group Independents Claude Malhuret, for whom "fear, shame and guilt must definitely change sides."

"To confirm that we are now determined to act on all banks reassures", said Josiane Costes (RDSE radical majority).

The Senate will continue Wednesday evening and possibly Thursday the review of more than 100 amendments tabled on this text.
