The standard means that the new kind of lamp socket must be installed in all newly manufactured houses and apartments. But even though the transition period has been going on since 2009, the change has been slow. At IKEA in Borlänge, lamps are waiting with the new standard at the turn of the year.

And for those who move to a new home, some jobs may be required to use the new lamp sockets. Then all plugs must be replaced. In the lamp shop Ljusgruvan in Falun, there is an increased demand for so-called DCL contacts.

"After all, a lot is being built, both apartments and villas, so there is pretty hard access to them," says Pontus Liljebrand.

The old standard may continue to be used until the new standard has been phased in. Which will take a while.

- You talk about 50 years, that's as long as an electrical installation lasts for about, says Ingvar Eriksson at the Swedish Electricity Standard.
