In the fall of 2018, the news in Swedish media breaks news about a chief physician and head of operations at Karolinska, who is accused of harassing Jewish doctors for a long time.

The head, Inti Peredo, is reported by a doctor at the hospital's neurosurgical clinic.

According to the allegations, Inti Peredo should have prevented him and the other two doctors from performing surgeries, given them lower wages and stopped them from conducting research.

The investigation found no evidence

Karolina's hospital management orders an external investigation of the charges.

It finds no evidence that Inti Peredo would have harassed anyone on anti-Semitic grounds. Nevertheless, Karolinska makes the decision to relocate Peredo - he is no longer allowed to meet patients or perform surgeries.

Inti Peredo itself says that it is all about a personnel case that has been given unparalleled proportions.

He says that, in conjunction with being head of operations at the clinic, he had to deal with an infected and prolonged conflict between the Jewish doctor and a section chief physician.

After an investigation, Inti Peredo decided in the fall of 2016 to reposition the Jewish doctor.

“Offensive racist and anti-Semitic comments”

The doctor tells Mission Review that he felt compelled to notify Inti Peredo after being removed from the section where he has his specialty, due to his Jewish incantations. He does not want to be interviewed.

To the Discrimination Ombudsman, who also addressed the case, the notifying physician also writes that: "Insulting racist and anti-Semitic comments have belonged to everyday life in the workplace".

Assignment review has met several physicians working at Karolinska's neurosurgical ward. They give a different picture of both Inti Peredo and the working environment. Hear their story in the clip above.
