“To appoint Kelin Andrei Vladimirovich Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland,” the document says.

Earlier, Kelin was director of the Department of Pan-European Cooperation of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

In late August, Putin signed a decree dismissing Alexander Yakovenko from the post of Russian ambassador to the UK. Yakovenko took the post of rector of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The media, citing sources, wrote that Andrei Kelin will become Yakovenko’s successor.
