The sister of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State group who was killed a few days ago, was arrested in a raid in northern Syria, Reuters quoted a Turkish official as saying.

The source, described by the agency as a senior Turkish official, said Rasmiya Awad, the 65-year-old sister of Baghdadi, was arrested in a raid near the city of Azaz in the northern countryside of Aleppo near the Syrian-Turkish border on Monday.

Her husband and son-in-law have been arrested, the official said, and was also accompanied by five of her sons.

"We hope to draw valuable information from Baghdadi's sister about working within the Islamic State," the source said. Little information is available from independent sources about Baghdadi's sister.

US President Donald Trump announced on October 27 that Baghdadi was killed in an operation by US special forces in the northern Syrian province of Idlib. ISIS confirmed in an audio tape posted on the Internet days after the operation its leader was killed and vowed to avenge the United States.
