The red card received by the Korean Son Heung-min, author Sunday of a tackle on André Gomes, who had fractured and dislocated his ankle in his fall during Everton-Tottenham, was withdrawn, announced the English Federation (FA ) Tuesday.

"Heung-min Son will be at Tottenham's disposal in the next three home games after an independent commission has ruled in favor of a request for wrongful expulsion," writes the FA on his Twitter account.

Sunday, the striker had been the author of a tackle very late but not particularly violent on midfielder André Gomes, 26 years old.

The match referee, Martin Atkinson, had first taken a yellow card out of his pocket.

But as he approached the Everton player, he realized, like the players around the Portuguese, that the latter had been seriously injured either in his fall or by hitting Serge Aurier who was standing in front of him.

The player's foot had rotated 90 degrees on its normal axis, causing horrified reactions from Gomes and Son's teammates, who had left the pitch holding their face in their hands after finally receiving a red.

By the end of the match, Tottenham players like some of Everton had acknowledged that Son's tackle had not caused the injury directly and Spurs coach Mauricio Pochettino had hinted that his team would appeal the expulsion. .

Gomes was operated Monday for his fracture with dislocation of the right ankle. According to the club, the surgery "went extremely well" and a total recovery of the player, himself very shocked at the time, is hoped.
