The trees are infected quickly and in total ten elm at Brunnsparken and at the hostel have fallen ill with alms, writes Sydöstran. In addition, another 21 elms need to be dropped because they are already dead or in poor condition.

Ronneby Municipality has now applied for and received a dispensation to cut down over 30 trees in the cultural reserve during 2019 and 2020, the magazine writes.

"It is with sadness in my heart that I hereby seek permission to take down trees in Ronneby Brunnspark," writes a unit manager at the municipality in an application to the county administrative board.

In the long term, new trees will be planted in the park to replace those that have been cut down.
