In the United Kingdom, Labor Lindsay Hoyle succeeds John Bercow as head of the House of Commons and thus inherits the difficult task of leading the ensuing debate on Brexit.

Elected in the fourth round of voting with 325 votes out of 540, Lindsay Hoyle is the new Speaker of the House of Commons. At 62, this Labor MP will leave his party as required by the rule to replace John Bercow which he was already the first deputy.

" I'll be neutral, I'll be transparent, " promised Lindsay Hoyle just after her election on Monday night. Transparent, his predecessor John Bercow was not really so during his ten years as Speaker of the House of Commons. And especially not during the parliamentary saga of Brexit during which he was regularly criticized by the supporters of the divorce between the United Kingdom and the European Union.

Lindsay Hoyle therefore displays her desire to occupy the position differently and to limit herself to a role of "arbitrator". Remains the immense task and delicate to lead in a renewed House of Commons after the elections of 12 December next future debates on Brexit, postponed three times and now scheduled for 31 January 2020.
