Mjällby is currently in first place in the Superettan at 56 points, but only two points behind is Varberg. If today's match ends with a win or a draw, Varberg cannot climb if and then Mjällby Superettan wins.

But if Mjällby loses today, Varberg can go back and score the trophy.

A helping hand

If you end up in first or second place in the Superetta can have a decisive role for how much money is distributed in SEF funds, by Swedish Elite Football in February next year. The minimum amount is around SEK 3.5 million, which all teams receive even if you leave the series.

The winning team can get up to SEK 7 million, which can be a helping hand in the right direction for Mjällby to develop further as an organization.

"The money goes to the association, but then we get to discuss how we should distribute it," says Kim Svensson, club manager at MAIF.

Sölvesborg Municipality owns the facility Strandvallen which will require a renovation for the club's all Swedish games next season. Among other things, these are better lighting and changing rooms.

Kim Svensson believes that it is necessary to discuss with the municipality whether changes should be made.

The match between Varberg and Mjällby starts at 3 pm.
