Associations and unions of Brazilian police commissioners on Sunday accused President Jair Bolsonaro of "trying to intimidate" the person in charge of the investigation of the murder of the councilor of Rio de Janeiro and human rights activist, Marielle Franco, which occurred about 20 months

"Using the position of President of the Republic and state institutions, (Bolsonaro) clearly attacks and attempts to intimidate the police commissioner of the Rio de Janeiro, with the intention of inhibiting the impartial investigation of the truth," said the signed statement by five entities.

The associations and police unions thus came out in defense of Commissioner Daniel Rosa, who leads the investigations of the crime against the councilwoman that occurred on March 14, 2018.

Bolsonaro's name appeared in the investigation of the case from a statement by a witness, leaked by TV Globo, who said that the alleged murderers of the councilor were shortly before the crime in the condominium of Rio de Janeiro where the president has your private residence

The issue generated a huge controversy, but in less than 24 hours it was settled when the Rio Prosecutor's Office said that the witness lied by citing the name of the ultra-rightist leader.

The witness in question is the urbanization doorman and explained that former police officer Elcio Queiroz, one of the agents accused of the murder, told him that he was going to Bolsonaro's house, at the time of the federal deputy, and that someone from there authorized him the entrance.

But Queiroz finally went to the residence of Ronnie Lessa, the other accused of firing at the Rio activist and Bolsonaro's neighbor.

The statement is contradictory, because the president today was that March 14, 2018 in Brasilia, more than a thousand kilometers from Rio, as the official records of the Congress show.

Prior to the clarification of the Prosecutor's Office, one of the president's sons, Carlos Bolsonaro, made public the conversations of that day of the goal of the urbanization, in which it is verified that the entrance of Élcio Queiroz was authorized by Ronnie Lessa himself and not by anyone from the ruler's house.

The audios of the goal

On the eve, Jair Bolsonaro said that they made the audios of the calls between the goal and the residences of the condominium before, according to him, the files were adulterated.

"We took them before they were adulterated or tried to adulterate them. We took all the memory of the electronic secretariat that has been kept for more than a year. The voice is not mine," the president revealed, in statements collected by the newspaper O Globo.

He also accused the governor of Rio de Janeiro, Wilson Witzel, of "manipulating" the investigations into the crime and the commissioner responsible for the case said he is "very close to the governor," the newspaper said.

In this regard, the five associations and police unions that issued the statement on Sunday "repudiated" Bolsonaro's statements on the issue.

"In the videos of his social networks and in matter published by the newspaper O Globo, on Saturday, the president insinuates the direction of the investigations, even with the alteration of evidence and coercion of witness, and refers to the commissioner in charge of the case as 'friend' of the governor "of Rio, they affirm in the note.

And they add: "The position of chief of the Executive Power does not allow him to commit attacks to the honor of people, much less of those who, in the exercise of the public function, perform their functions in the interest of society, and not of any government ".

Investigations of Franco's murder remain open almost 20 months later. So far the two alleged material perpetrators have been arrested (the explanations Elcio Queiroz and Ronnie Lessa), but the intellectual author has yet to be determined.
