"It is a truck that has been involved in a number of accidents in central Västerås," says Temo Allenbäck, RLC commander in the police region Mitt to SVT Nyheter.

According to SOS Alarm, a first alarm came about a traffic accident at 16.39, when a truck should have driven into a passenger car. Another alarm about a traffic accident came at 16.39 - even then a truck should have driven into a passenger car. Another alarm then came at 16.46, when a truck must have driven on two passenger cars from behind.

Police confirm that several traffic accidents involving the truck have taken place in central Västerås. They do not currently know how many accidents are involved, where they should have occurred or exactly how many people are involved.

- The picture is not really clear, we have not been to all places and are working on this right now, says Temo Allenbäck.

No person should have been seriously injured in the accidents, according to police.

The driver taken care of

Shortly after 17, the truck was found by police and the driver, a man, was taken into custody. He is suspected of drunken driving and also gross negligence in traffic. The treatment must have been calm, according to Temo Allenbäck police RLC commander.

Is there any suspicion of terrorist offenses?

- We have nothing to suggest it would be. He is, as I said, taken care of by us.
