Last July, the world followed a drama in which twelve people, a football coach and his players, got caught in a flood in the Tham Luang Cave in Chiang Rai District, Thailand. Yesterday, Friday, the cave for tourists was opened for the first time since the event. The Bangkok Post reports.

Spokespeople for Tham Luang Khun Nam Nang Nons National Park say there were about 2,000 people in place to get a chance to enter the now world famous cave. But only 20 people at a time were allowed to visit the cave's first chamber.

A diver lost his life

The football team and their coaches were caught in the cave on June 23, 2018 due to heavy rainfall causing parts of the cave to overflow. They were stuck in Tham Luang for 17 days.

The rescue operation required 90 dives and received a lot of international attention. A diver lost his life.

Since the boys were rescued, the Thai authorities have banned them and their families from talking to media without permission.

The boys have childcare staff with them in all public appearances, and for those who want to interview them, they must undergo a thorough check.
