Six years to the day after the assassination of Ghislaine Dupont and Claude Verlon, in Kidal in northern Mali, RFI awarded this Saturday, Nov. 2 in Kinshasa, DRC, the sixth scholarship bearing their names to Myriam Iragi Maroy, a young journalist. , and Vital Mugisho, a young radio technician.

The two winners of the Ghislaine Dupont and Claude Verlon scholarships have been appointed after two weeks of training provided by the Académie France Médias Monde in Kinshasa, in partnership with the Congolese National Radio and Television (RTNC). Twenty candidates - ten journalists and ten technicians - selected among 200 applications, benefited. A diploma will be given to each of them.

For the journalists, the scholarship was awarded to Myriam Iragi Maroy. Aged 30, she is currently a journalist on Radio Top Congo in Kinshasa, where she presents editions of information and produces newspapers. The jury distinguished her for the clarity of the story and the quality of the testimonies collected in her report Les filles-mères .

Among the technicians, the scholarship was awarded to Vital Mugisho, 26 years old, currently technical director on Star Radio Bukavu. The jury selected the quality of its sound recording, as well as the choice and the relevance of the sound atmospheres used in its work of realization in the report The work of the children on the building sites .

The two winners are invited to Paris to undergo intensive training in February 2020, both in immersion at RFI, and within the partner institutions of the Bourse: Sciences Po School of Journalism for Myriam Iragi Maroy, and the center of the National Audiovisual Institute (INA) for Vital Mugisho.

Created in 2014 in tribute to its two murdered journalists on November 2, 2013 in Kidal, in the north of Mali, the Ghislaine Dupont and Claude Verlon Scholarship rewards each year, in a country of Africa, a young radio journalist and a (e) young reporting technician.
