Stephen Curry, the Golden State Warrior star, is "absolutely" determined to play Tokyo next year, despite his left index finger fracture that will keep him off the floor until at least February, his father told ESPN.

"Absolutely," said former NBA player Dell Curry questioned whether his son wanted to defend the colors of his country despite the operation he suffered on Friday.

"This is the goal he has set, he wants to participate in the Games," he said on the website The Undefeated, managed by ESPN. "It's a break but with a little luck it's a goal he can reach after his recovery."

The double MVP of the NBA (2015, 2016) has never played with Team USA at the Olympics, but he won twice the world basketball championships in 2010 and 2014.

About the fracture of his son's second metacarpal, Dell Curry assured that the Warriors leader would not rush his return.

"He will do his best, but it was a tough injury, three or four months ... we are not sure when he will come back, he must take his time," he said.

"He had ankle injuries, he knows what to do when you're in rehab, he'll have to be patient and make sure he's fully recovered before coming back to the competition," he said. added.
