November 02, 2019 Alberto Sed, a survivor of the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp, disappeared.

Alberto, after being captured in Rome with his mother and two sisters, was briefly taken to Fossoli, before being taken to Birkenau, where he was tattooed number A-5491.

Sed was born in Rome in 1928.

"His death represents an immense pain for the whole community. An even more painful loss in these dark times when anti-Semitic hatred reappears. With a smile he has been able to tell hell and make us better people. God bless his memory "writes Ruth Dureghello, president of the Jewish Community of Rome, in a statement.
